Did you know that the damage caused to a hotel's reputation by being listed on Trip Advisor , The Bed Bug Registry and Bed Bugs.net can have a tremendous effect on your bottom line? Check to see if you are listed online already!

May I use ActiveGuard® Mattress Liners with an Encasement?

You may use ActiveGuard® above an encasement and enjoy all the benefits these liners provide.  However, if placed underneath an encasement, its effectiveness will be reduced and will only impact those bed bugs within the encased mattress.

ActiveGuard® works best when placed directly on the mattress and/or box spring surface.  Once installed, the bed should be prepared as usual, which may include a mattress pad, sheets, blankets, dust ruffle and/or comforter.  ActiveGuard® will work continuously 24/7 and does not need to be disturbed for two years.

It seems like the summer has just begun but the truth is college students around the country are preparing to head back to school. Bedbugs have made a comeback and college campuses across the country are feeling the pressure. Multi-unit housing scenarios such as college living quarters provide the perfect opportunity for bed bugs to spread. Clutter, summer camps, heavy travel and unaware college students make infestations easy to establish for this opportunistic pest. A little education about bed bugs and some preventative measures can minimize the disruption they cause to a college campus and a student’s life.

This month’s Bed Bug Authority focuses on Bed Bugs and Back to School…

Editor’s Note: Please note that due to the seasonal height of the pest management industry and busy travel months, we have decided to condense the summer Bed Bug Authority newsletters by combining the July and August issues into one.

backtocollege2-1.jpg

Bedbugs are wingless insects that feed on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded mammals. They made a comeback in the 1990’s and have been in the news ever since. Infestations are reported across the country without discrimination, hitting pristine ivy-league dormitories as well as aging state college living quarters.  A little education about bed bugs can go a long way in minimizing the disruption they cause if caught early.

ActiveGuard® Mattress Liners are covered under U.S. Patents 5,916,580, 6,214,365, 6,440,438 and pending patents. ActiveGuard's formulation represents a unique and proprietary delivery system that offers sustained bioavailability of permethrin for two years.  Allergy Technologies is a subsidiary of A. Carey Co. LLC, which focuses on using philanthropy as a core business strategy for its businesses. Through its Philanprofit (SM) strategy, a portion of all ActiveGuard proceeds go to help fund inner-city homeless and women's shelters and asthma clinics.

ActiveGuard Mattress Liners kill bed bugs. Newest research supports that after short exposure to ActiveGuard of only 10 min, bed bugs regardless of their level of resistance, begin to show significant reductions in feeding (biting) and a dramatic inability to lay eggs. Real world consequences of this data include discontinuation of population growth thereby halting progression of an incident to an infestation.  If you are seeking a pro-active preventative approach, ActiveGuard should be considered as the centerpiece of your long term solution to keep bedding from being infested! As part of a comprehensive strategy for treating an active bed bug infestation, ActiveGuard is an excellent choice for use as the final step in treating the mattress and box spring sleeping area. These liners' two-year ability to keep on killing bed bugs provides for continual prevention and control against any adult bed bugs, nymphs or eggs missed during initial treatment and any bed bugs re-introduced after treatment has been concluded.
